Fuel prices in Germany do not just move over time, they move across the map. ADAC's state-level snapshots regularly show gaps of 9 to 10 cents per litre between the cheapest and the most expensive Bundesland, and the ranking reshuffles every few weeks. A snapshot, however, is stale the day it is published. The table below is not a snapshot: it recomputes from the live prices of the stations we track in Germany's biggest cities every time you load this page.

Why cities differ
Three patterns tend to hold. City states and dense metropolitan areas with heavy station competition, Berlin being the classic case, often undercut the national average. Rural regions with thin coverage run more expensive, because the nearest competitor is fifteen minutes away instead of two. And proximity to refineries and import terminals matters: north-eastern and Rhine-corridor cities are structurally closer to supply than the far south.
The differences are big enough to matter for commuters near a city boundary: a 6-cent gap on a 55-litre tank is over 3 euros per fill, month after month.
Find the actual station
A city average tells you where the market sits, not where to drive. Within any German city, the spread between the cheapest and most expensive station is usually far larger than the spread between cities. The live map shows every station and every current price; the Germany page lists the cheapest stations nationwide right now. And remember the noon rule: whatever the city, do not fill up shortly after 12:00.
